When the vote happens

The date has not been set yet. By law the vote must fall on a Sunday, no earlier than 13 September 2026 and no later than 19 December 2027.
Why these dates
The current parliament first convened on 13 October 2022 and sits for five years.
- Art. 60 Cost.The Chamber of Deputies and the Senate are elected for five years.
- Art. 61 Cost.Elections for the new chambers take place within seventy days of the end of the previous ones. They first convene no later than the twentieth day after the election.
- Art. 1, d.P.R. 361/1957Voting takes place on a Sunday, from 7am to 11pm.
- Art. 11, d.P.R. 361/1957The electoral assemblies are convened by presidential decree at least 45 days before polling day.
- Art. 88 Cost.The President of the Republic may, having consulted their presiding officers, dissolve the chambers or either one of them.
