Polls
Voting-intention polls from the official register, with methodology and sample size always shown.
Not available yet
The official register of political polls publishes only HTML pages and PDFs behind a session, so collecting it automatically is a separate piece of work. The legal blackout was built first: making a prohibition work is easier before there is anything to prohibit.
- Each party’s trend over time, with the sample size always visible
- Pollster, client, method and fieldwork dates for every poll
- The margin of error beside each number, not in a footnote
The polling blackout
In the fifteen days before polling day it is illegal to publish opinion polls on the outcome of the election. The ban covers websites and is enforced by the regulator. On this site the block is automatic and the data is not published at all — it is not hidden in the page, it is simply absent.
Art. 8, l. 28/2000In the fifteen days before polling day it is forbidden to publish or otherwise disseminate the results of opinion polls on the outcome of the election.
